Iron Age Celtic Crystal Amulet
This is an ancient Iron Age (Celtic) crystal amulet, dating to c. 500 B.C. - 500 A.D. The amulet is in the shape of a human head, cut with Celticized features. It is made from a natural gemstone, likely a rose quartz from a river bed. At one time the amulet was drilled, either for a rod to be inserted or as an attempt to pierce the stone for a bead. This has been examined by an archaeologist, we both feel it is a very rare and genuine piece from the Iron Age. The crescent-shaped eyebrows are a classic feature on Celtic stone heads.
