Anglo Saxon King Cnut silver penny by Æthelweard of Huntingdon

Anglo-Saxon Silver Penny of King Canute (Cnut) struck at Huntingdon by the moneyer ÆÐLPERD. It is of the Quatrefoil type (c.1017 - c.1023 AD).

Obverse: Crowned bust left within a quatrefoil, + CNVT REX ANGLO, (Cnut King of the English)
Reverse: Voided long cross with cusp terminals over quatrefoil, + ÆÐLPERD MO HVN (Æthelweard Monyer of Huntingdon)

This is a bold well-struck coin. However, it has a small striking crack in the centre. Spink sold a similar coin from the same Huntingdon mint in The Williams Collection Part IV - Anglo-Saxon and Norman Coins #605

Cnut was King of England from 1016, King of Denmark from 1018, and King of Norway from 1028 until his death in 1035. The three kingdoms united under Cnut's rule are referred to together as the North Sea Empire.
