Code: 10376
This is a nice late Roman bronze finger ring, dating to the 4th - 5th century A.D. The ring has a neatly-applied 'angular wave' design formed from alternating V-shaped notches. The ring is closely paralleled by another copper-alloy example from a grave in the Butt Road cemetery site, Colchester, dated c. AD 320 - c. AD 450 (Crummy 1981, 47-8, Fig. 50, no. 1766). Similar examples have been recorded LON-54D7E1, ESS-854445 and WMID-9E94F2. This ring has survived in very good excavated condition, suitable to be worn again today!
