Pair of Excavated Ancient Greek Scythian Gold Earrings
This is a superb pair of early Iron Age solid gold earrings, dating to the 5th century B.C. They belong to the Eastern European Sakae culture, of a Royal Scyth. They are intact though a slight dent on one side. These are very showy pieces, designed to be noticed! They would have been very secure once attached to the ear, enabling the wearer to easily ride horses and shoot a bow.
It is a great looking piece of early gold, in excellent excavated condition.
