This is a wonderful ancient Roman gold finger ring, dating to the 2nd century A.D. The ring is set with a sardonyx gemstone with alternating bands of orange and white. The bezel is flanked between two facing snakeheads. The snake during this period was associated with healing, the goddess Salus and Asclepius all have associations with snakes. The ring is intact and in excellent wearable condition.
