This is a rare Anglo Saxon bronze finger ring, dating to the 5th - 7th century A.D. This type of ring was popular from the late Roman period - migration period of the early Anglo Saxons. A similar ring in silver was excavated in Dover 1995,0102.180 now held in the British Museum. It is likely the spiral had a magical solar significance, it would seem the design was popular being found in Gold, silver, and bronze. This example is in excavated condition, slightly distorted, but intact and a nice original piece.
