Code: 13095
This is an early Medieval signet ring, dating to the 8th-10th century AD. The wide band is decorated with a mystical creature, either a dragon or wyvern, similar to those displayed on banners or used as insignia of Anglo-Saxon and Pictish lords. The most notable being the Wessex Wyvern, used by Alfred the Great to rally his troops against the Viking invaders. The ring is in good, excavated condition with a nice dark green patina.
