This is an excavated Viking silver bead, dating to the 10th-11th centuries. Such large beads were worn as a centrepiece in a Treasure chain of valuable amulets and beads passed through generations. The shape of the bead is reminiscent of glass 'eye' beads. This wonderful find can still be worn on a cord or silver chain. A bit misshapen from its time in the ground, but still a well-preserved ancient bead!
