Code: 13033
This is a simple Scandinavian silver pennanular bracelet, dating to the 9th-10th century AD. The bracelet is made from a single rod of silver. The size is quite small, so it is probably intended for a baby or small child's wrist. Such bracelets were carried over a lifetime and accumulated as the years progressed, forming larger bracelets or oath rings as one grew older and married. This would have acted as a visible sign of wealth and status and was often chopped up into hack silver by Vikings as payment for conquest and trade.
