This is a nice Scandinavian Viking finger ring, dating to the 10th - 11th century A.D. The ring has been cast in bronze, from a gold or silver master. The cast is very fine and captured the original braided design, from this we can date the ring to the mid 11th century, possibly the late 10th century. This type of ring has been recorded in gold from Wiltshire (WILT-C90DD5), Norfolk (NMS-A901E1) and from Yorkshire (SWYOR-202584). It has survived in good excavated condition, a rare and interesting ancient ring in bronze.
