Code: 12203
This is a nice late medieval - early Tudor period ring, dating to the late 15th - early 16th century AD. The ring is set with a dark pink table cut and faceted glass, imitating a ruby. The bezel is sculpted with a sexfoil-cusped setting. The ring is a nice example of transitional type as painted by Gerard David's Portrait of a Goldsmith (Vienna), c. 1500, where he holds a cylinder roll of cusped rings. Or see CAMHER-961244 for the type. It is in good antique condition, the gem in my opinion is likely a later replacement.
