Medieval bronze lion retainers badge

Code: 11202

£140.00 Approx $176.77, €163.74

This is a nice medieval bronze retainers badge, dating to the 14th - 15th century. It depicts a lion passant, used as a royal symbol of the English King from King Edward III - Henry VI. This example was found in France, so probably worn by a supporter of the English during the Hundred Years War! The back retains the catch plate but is missing the pin, so it may have been sewn to the garment. It has survived in good condition with a light ocean green patina.
