Medieval Bronze Signet Ring Hawk or Eagle
This is a superb medieval bronze signet ring, dating to the late 14th - 15th century A.D. The hexagonal shaped bezel is engraved with an animated bird, its wings outstretched and claws extended as if about to swoop on its prey. The bird is hard to identify being of stylized form, but likely an eagle, hawk or falcon. The shoulders are decorated with stylized armorial devices. It is an excellent example intact with a wonderful chocolate coloured patina.
