Code: 11431
This is a nice medieval gold finger ring, dating to the 14th - 15th century. It is set with the original turquoise gemstone, enclosed within a cusped setting. The bezel a little asymmetric and cusped with a rubbed over setting. Inside the band bears traces of an old resizing (these are not cracks). Turquoise was thought to protect wearers from falling off horses. A similar example has been recorded from Nottinghamshire (DENO-CA590E) and Herefordshire (HESH-171513) (. A good medieval ring with the original gem that is secure and wearable.
