This is a nice medieval silver-gilt retainers badge, dating to the 15th century. It depicts a Boar, used as the royal livery of the English King Richard III. This example was originally found in Gloucestershire and was purchased from a private collection. Such a badge would have been worn by a retained knight of King Richard III. Similar example was found on the Bosworth battlefield and recorded as LEIC-A6C834. This example in intact with all four legs and a suspension ring on the tail. RARE
