This is a Tudor silver half groat of Queen Elizabeth, minted in London between 1587 - 1589 AD.
Obverse inscription: E.' D.' G.' ROSA · SINE · SPINA · "Elizabeth by the Grace of God a rose without a thorn" Crowned bust of Queen Elizabeth I facing left within inner beaded circle, legend around.
Reverse inscription: CIVI TAS LON DON ("City of London") Quartered shield of arms over cross fourchée within inner beaded circle, legend around.
This coin would have been issued around the time of the Spanish Armada in 1588.
