This is a fabulous Renaissance gold and freshwater pearl crucifix pendant, dating to the 16th -17th century. It is decorated with three hanging pearls, unusually three studded pearls (over the nails). It retains a suspension ring, clearly where it was attached to a necklace. All pearls are original and intact, this find came from an old chest, amongst late 16th-century linen. A nice and wearable crucifix from the period Mary Queen of Scots!
