Code: 12750
This is a superb Renaissance silver-gilt pectoral crucifix pendant, dating from the late 16th to early 17th century. Such a 'showy' crucifix was designed to be worn on a long chain around the neck (so that it rests on the chest), especially by bishops, abbots, and priests. This example displays some wear and has a nice pale (lemon) gold gilding, although it is intact and in excellent condition.
