This is a nice late Renaissance silver chain, dating to the 1580's - 1620's. It is intact with the original clasp and eye and is tight when secured. This chain was found in a cache of jewellery (during renovation work) mainly dating to the late 16th and early 17th centuries (see the last photo). A similar design of chain was sold as a 'Silver wedding belt, Neurenberg, 16e/17e century' sold by Christie’s in 1997. This is an original, early, and very rare silver chain in excellent antique condition.
