This is a nice Renaissance silver Gimmal ring, dating to the mid 16th - mid 17th century AD. It consists of two bands that interlock as a complete Gimmal ring. The form is as a Fede with a pair of hands that link together. The name gimmal comes from Latin gemellus, twin, via Old French. They were known as joint rings in Elizabethan England.
