Code: 10544
This is a nice Renaissance silver pectoral crucifix pendant, dating from the mid 16th to early 17th century. Such a crucifix was designed to be worn on a long chain around the neck (so that it rests on the chest) worn especially by bishops, abbots, and priests. It is intact though displays some wear, indicative of a much loved devotional jewel. Today this pendant retains the suspension loop so can still be worn with care.
