This is a nice Italian Baroque silver-gilt pectoral cross pendant, dating to the late 17th century. The pendant is perfect, recovered from a treasury. Such a cross was designed to be worn on a long chain around the neck so that it rests on the chest, worn especially by bishops, abbots, and priests. This example retains the original suspension ring, with a full luminous honey yellow gold gilding. An ideal antique piece to be worn again today.
