This is an ancient Roman banded agate intaglio set into the original gold pendant, it dates from the 1st - 3rd century A.D. The intaglio is finely cut with a portrait of Apollo (god of Sun, light, oracles, knowledge, healing, diseases, music, poetry, songs, dance, archery, herds and flocks, and the protection of young). It is set in the original Roman gold pendant with a nice bloom patina from thousands of years. It is a great looking ancient jewel, the suspension loop being intact and sturdy enabling this item to be worn again today!
