Code: 13052
This is an ancient bronze spearhead from the Taunton Phase of the Middle Bronze Age, c. 1400 - 1300 BC. Another related but more intact example I sold from Tal y Bont, Merioneth, is probably from a battlesite. What is interesting about this example is the sheer violence this spear has gone through to shatter the tip of the blade into a curl, in my opinion, into a shield wall or pallisade defences? The spear is missing many of its original diagnostic features, precluding a firm date and classification. Other spears of similar form have been recorded, from LANCUM-CBBCA9, YORYM-708993, and BUC-A419F9 for type and further discussion. A great-looking piece, surely with a story to tell of some ancient battle or heroic deed!
