This is an ancient Roman silver Miliarense of emperor Magnus Maximus dating to 383 - 388 A.D.

This coin was minted at Treveri (Trier, Germany), mintmark TRPS. It had traveled across the English Channel, being buried in the Thruxton Hoard in the UK. This coin was purchased directly from the finder after being disclaimed by the British Museum. It was struck from a crakced die, the cracks showing through on the stuck coin, the coin also has a stricking split, all of this is solid and stable, merely cosmetic. The coin is of full weight and unclipped.
