This is a rather charming portrait miniature dating to the mid-18th century. It is hand-painted in watercolours on paper/parchment. The portrait is of a young man wearing a green doublet with a stock and white whig. The portrait is enclosed within a heart-shaped tinned snuffbox. The front of the box is mounted a copper farthing of King George Ist. An endearing object that may have once been presented as a Valentine's Day gift?
