This is a nice armorial signet intaglio, dating to the 17th century. It is intricately hand-cut on a carnelian gemstone, with an elaborate coat of arms. Such an intaglio would have been set into a gold signet ring, used to seal authentic letters and paperwork. The gem is in excellent condition and suitable for remounting.
