Code: 11761
This is a delightful Jacobean silver fob seal, dating to the early to mid 17th century. It is decorated with a chessman type handle and bears a set of owners initials E.G. The 'G' presumably stands for the owner's surname of 'Griffin' or 'Griffiths' etc. The main seal is nicely engraved with a fearsome rampant Griffin of good character. This seal would have been used to authenticate letters and transactions. it is a good collectable example.
