This is a medieval bronze seal, dating to the 15th century. It is nicely cut with a device of a merchant's mark within a shield. The legend is inscribed in a Lombardic script, reading as "SU + MATIS + DOBLER" This would translate as "the seal of Matthew Dobler" The seal is intact with a nice patina and iron deposits within the suspension loop, this presumably had an iron chain for security. The merchant leaves no indication as to trade but uses a complex mark of "4" as utilized among merchants of this period. It is a good example that can be researched.
