A rather handsome Jacobean silver spoon, hallmarked for London 1605. It has a deep pear-shaped bowl and a hexagonal tapering stem. It is struck with the maker's mark of a pierced mullet within a crescent that has been associated with John Lovejoy, a specialist spoon maker based at the "Woolsack" (a known spoon shop) in London. This spoon bears a well-struck crowned lion's head on the bowl, and the date letter (for 1586) is clear. The spoon bears an owner initial's of M.D. on the back of the bowl, other than that, it is perfect and a nice antique object with plenty of character!
