A charming Georgian silver Babies Rattle, dating to the early 19th century. It bears the makers mark of WW for William Weston who used this mark from 1810 - 1820. It retains all of the original eight bells although missing the coral teether. All bells are working and the whistle has a nice shrill like a steam train! Nursemaids would have used large rattles like this as a prop to gain the attention of the child.
