This is a very good Georgian silver marrow scoop, made by Samuel Godbehere, hallmarked in London with the date letter 'E' for 1800. The scoop is a solid example intact with clear hallmarks. The bowl is decorated on the back with the owner's crest of a Cockrel.

During the Georgian era, marrow scoops were essential dining utensils, particularly for extracting marrow from beef bones, a popular delicacy at the time. These spoons, often made of silver, had a distinctive design featuring a rounded spoon at one end and a narrower scoop at the other for removing marrow. This design addressed the need for a more refined way to enjoy marrow, aligning with the evolving table etiquette of the period.

It is a fine example in excellent condition and of good weight, made of solid silver.
