Ancient Bronze Age Amber Bead Group

SOLD

Code: 10075

This is a very rare group of eleven ancient amber beads, dating to the early Bronze Age c. 1900 - 1600 BC. Some of the 1000+ amber beads discovered in the Upton Lovell 'Golden' Barrow are almost identical in size and patination. Such beads were worn in Bronze Age Britain, as a sign of wealth and status. This is a nice little group of beads, purchased from a private collection of a retired archaeologist in Devon. Each bead is intact and has a nice patina. It would be possible to restring these beads to a necklace, but due to their great age and fragility, I wouldn't recommend.
