This is an ancient Roman silver intaglio ring, dating to the 2nd - 3rd century A.D. The ring is set with the original banded agate gem, this would have been left unengraved ready for the owner to have a suitable intaglio cut. Today the ancient ring has survived intact with no damage or restoration, the gem is still securely set and can still be worn with care.
