This is a superb Renaissance silver gilt finger ring, dating to the late 16th - early 17th century. The ring is cut with a pseudo armorial device of a stylized fleur, the shape of the shield in use from the latter part of the 16th century. Such a ring would have been worn by a merchant, or nobleman not entitled to bear arms. It is intact with fine partial gilding, of a lovely buttery mercurial gold. A great historic signet, ideal piece to be worn again today.
