This is an ancient Roman bronze intaglio ring, dating to the 3rd century A.D. The ring is set with the original carnelian intaglio, depicting hanging fruit. The bronze ring is in good excavated condition, being part of a cache of rings from a jeweler (discovered in Europe). A similar jewelers hoard was discovered in Snettisham in Norfolk. The gems appear to be related and the working stock of a jeweler. This ring is in excellent condition and has a nice olive patina. A nice ring for the collector.
