Roman Silver & Gold Intaglio Ring of Venus

This is a nice ancient Roman silver and gold intaglio ring, dating to the 1st - 2nd century A.D. The ring is set with the original carnelian intaglio, cut with a depiction of the goddess Venus. The pose is a classic, showing Venus in the process of undress. The gem is mounted with a gold bezel, tightly rubbed. It is a good looking ancient ring, suitable to be worn again today.
