This is a charming medieval silver betrothal ring, dating to the 15th century. The bezel is decorated with a pair of hands, presenting a flowering heart. This design in medieval art refers to blossoming love, used as a metaphor of betrothal. This example retains traces of the original red polychrome on the flowers. A nice example of wearable jewelry from the turbulent period of the Wars of the Roses.
