This is a nice medieval bronze armorial seal, dating to the 14th century A.D. The heraldic device displays a rampant lion on a field of eight diamonds. It is surrounded by three palm leaves/feathers within a beaded border. This seal would have been used as a counterseal, for sealing letters and documents of a knight. Noble families bearing arms were only those entitled to display them on seals. This seal is intact, though the suspension ring had been removed in antiquity. A nice medieval seal, worthy of further research.
