Tudor Period Floral Gold Dress Hook Jewel Royalty or Nobility RARE

SOLD

Code: 10215

This is a fabulous Tudor period gold dress-hook, dating to the 16th century. It is decorated as a blooming flower. Originally it would have been set with seed pearls, threaded through the gold wire. The central axel (now bent) would have been set with a large pearl or sapphire. Clothing / dress-hooks, are usually found in bronze, silver, and silver-gilt. This is the first I have recorded to be made of solid gold! A real treasure and certainly a piece worn by a member of royalty or high nobility.
