This is a nice Georgian gold posy ring, dating to the mid 18th century. The inside of the band is inscribed "Not the vallue but my love". It bears a makers mark of 'JH' in Gothic lettering for John Harwood of London. This mark is dated to 1739 - 1740.
The ring was discovered during the 1980's, it had a twist to the band which has now been straightened. Such a ring would have been worn as a wedding band, popular from the 16th to mid 18th century. This will make for a unique and historic wedding ring today!
