This is a wonderful Georgian gold brooch, dating to the 18th century. It is in the shape of a Scottish Saltire shaped cross (Cross of Saint Andrew). The gems have been tested as Zircon, imitation of Rose cut diamonds. Such a brooch would have been worn fastened to a shawl, possibly given as sweethearts gift given by a Jacobite soldier? After Culloden, the Act of Proscription (1746) forbade the wearing of Jacobite related jewelry and Highland dress.
