This is a nice Renaissance silver wedding band, dating to the mid 16th - 17th century. Such rings are often found with posy inscriptions and or makers marks (giving us a more precise date). However, this example is plain, but the shape of the band and associated finds would date this ring to the early 17th century (around the time of King James Ist). It is a large size, likely once worn by a gentleman. Today it has survived in excellent excavated condition, with no cracks or repairs.
