This is a magnificent Iberian gold and ruby amatory ring, dating to the late 17th century. The ring consists of a cluster of table-cut rubies, that have been set within a heart-shaped bezel. The shoulders are set with a group of three rubies, giving a total of fifteen rubies (one or two may be later replacements). Such a ring would have been given as an amatory gift, possibly as a betrothal or wedding ring. It is an excellent example in good antique condition. A nice piece of wearable history from the age of Pirates and the Treasure Fleets!
