This is a nice late medieval period silver-gilt finger ring, dating to the 15th - 16th century. This example is decorated with the bust of Saint James the Great, flanked by two scallop shells. This ring is likely associated with the major pilgrimage site of Santiago de Compostela. Originally purchased by a pilgrim, or worn to aid in traveling. It has survived in excellent condition, intact with the original gilding. A nice example, perfectly wearable today with care!
