This is an ancient Romano-Egyptian frit/glass cameo, dating to the 1st century B.C. / A.D. The cameo is moulded with the portrait of a veiled head. It is made from a turquoise blue glass or frit, similar to that employed on scarabs with a turquoise glaze. the back has a tiny chip (which appears to be glass and not a glazed steatite or stone). It has plenty of age and possibly quite rare. A nice gem for a gold or silver finger ring.
