This is a very large sized Anglo-Scandinavian silver finger ring, dating to the 9th - 11th century A.D. The ring is of a penannular shape Similar to NMS-E26C94, of a slightly irregular D-sectioned band, tapering smoothly from the widest point at the front to blunt points at the rear of the hoop. There are hammer marks on the internal surface. Such rings were made to be resizeable by adjusting the terminals and even knotting them on occasion. This example has not been resized, so likely worn by a large warrior. A nice ring with plenty of age and character.
