This is an ancient Roman silver finger ring, dating to the 4th - 5th century A.D. The ring is of a small ladies or child's size, comprising of a slender circular band with flat inner face and ribbed (corrugated) external surfaces. Similar 'ribbed' finger rings have been recorded from York (YORYM-5B4AC6) and Newport in Wales (NMGW-D725C3). Generally, the dating is for the 3rd-4th century, though the Vikings also produced this type of ring. From the construction technique, I would date this ring to the late Roman period. The ring is intact and excellent excavated condition.
