This is an interesting silver-gilt pendant, dating to the 10th - 14th century. Originally this would have encased a relic or object behind a rock crystal cover. The contents appear to have been forcibly removed, the tabs opened up. The pendant is decorated in repoussé, with the design punched out from inside. The gold gilding on the back is fresh and of a bright mercurial gold. A nice and romantic piece of history, leaving one wondering what sacred contents it originally contained.
