This is a medieval silver penny of King John, struck at the Ipswich mint between 1199 - 1216 A.D. The Moneyer who struck the coin was called Iohan, his name and mint are found on the reverse of the coin. +IOhAN.ON.GIPE. The coin is a detector find from Kent.
